Highest Gay Men Diagnosed with HIV in the UK - The number of gay and bisexual men diagnosed with HIV in the UK reached "the highest of all time" in 2011, according to the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
Note from HP stating there is trend "worrisome since 2007, with the rising of new cases each year.
Nearly half of the 6280 people diagnosed last year were men who had sex with other men (MSM term).
Overall, one in 20 HIV-infected MSM.
Of those diagnosed in 2011, nearly two-thirds had never been in a sexual health clinic in the previous three years.
The HPA said the picture shows a "space improvement" in test people in risk groups.
"Of course this is a serious and very worrying when seen more and more men who have sex with each other turned out to record highs. Safe sex therefore be the best way to prevent contracting HIV, "said Dr Valerie Delpech, head of HIV surveillance at the HPA.
The total number of those who have HIV in the UK rose to 96 thousand, rising from 91,500 in the previous year. Figures obtained at most in London.
These data show that one in four people with HIV do not realize they are infected entirely, meaning that they do not receive treatment and may still spread the virus.
