Now Kiss Off and No Longer Romance - Mononucleosis caused by Epstein-Barr virus and can be transmitted through contact with saliva. A recent study says that kissing like a French Kiss can cause mononucleosis. Mononucleosis or commonly abbreviated as mono is often referred to as the kissing disease.

This disease according to researchers from the Mayo Clinic, is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. The virus is spread through contact with saliva produced by the patient. Not only that, mononucleosisjuga spread through coughing, sneezing, sharing food, but it is not contagious like the flu. Meanwhile, the researchers also reported that French Kiss contact involving the mouth and tongue contact is the only ultimate trigger for the disease mononucleosis.

People affected by this disease usually experience symptoms such as sore throat, extreme fatigue, headache, decreased appetite, and swollen tonsils. However, some people who suffer from mono penyakiy also sometimes have no symptoms at all.

The research was conducted precisely by experts from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. They involve 143 students who check their blood to see their antibodies against Epstein-Barr virus.

The results showed that 63 percent of students had a positive antibody. That means, in the past they have been suffering from mono. As many as 66 percent of students are also suffering from mono, but about 59 percent of them showed symptoms.

Students who have the disease mono usually develop the disease during the 17 days. But the spread of the virus to others can last longer, which is about five months. The results of research on the relationship between the French Kiss and mono disease was also reported in the Journal of Infectious Diseases.
